DeClercq’s Theatrical Specialties, Inc. began operations in 1987. We have established ourselves as a reputable theatre rigging and maintenance company.

It’s true, we’ve been in the business so long our client list reads like a “Who’s-Who, but we’re never to busy for you!
In May of 1992, we acquired Oakland United Studios as an affiliate rigging company. With over 30 years in the theatre industry, its reputation speaks for itself.
Complete Amenities
We have complete capabilities to build or remodel interiors, including all movable rigging, projection screens and frames, acoustical sound panel design and installation, speaker and amplification support, drapery design, manufacturing, repair and installation, flameproofing, screen cleaning and a service department to maintain auditorium equipment.

Our Story
DeClercq’s Theatrical Specialties, Inc. is a product of modern day technology and old fashioned ingenuity. Two very inquisitive brothers, Joe and Paul DeClercq lived next door to Jack Craig, owner of Oakland United Studios. Jack had been around theatre since the “old days” as a ticket taker for United Artists and eventually moved up from there into his own company fabricating, repairing and maintaining theatre drapery, rigging and hardware.
The DeClercq’s went to work for Jack at Oakland United Studios until the opening of their own company in 1987. In 1992, the DeClercq’s purchased Oakland United Studios (upon Jack’s retirement). In the bargain came their good friend, old neighbor, knowledgeable and very experienced in the industry, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Jessup (Jack’s daughter). The acquisition merged the oldest and best in the theatrical specialties industry.
Paul DeClercq continues to operate as President of the company, Dot has recently retired. I am bringing up a new, enthusiastic, hard working and creative crew for the Third Act of Oakland United Studios and the Second Act of DeClercq’s Theatrical Specialties, Inc.
